The Obsidian neck delivers fantastic, PAF-like cleans and low gain tones, but with enough push to handle plenty of gain without losing too much clarity, despite its use of a warm AlNiCo II magnet. The Obsidian bridge brings a huge, soaring sound with a much higher output and much stronger AlNiCo VI magnet construction giving a slightly more scooped sound with tighter lows and more present highs, with clarity through even extreme gain while maintaining a slightly warm overall feel to the highs, allowing the set to be incredibly versatile and extremely well-balanced, despite their output and magnet strength differences.
 
The Obsidian set calibrates due to the use of very different winds and winding wire, meaning that despite the relatively large output and magnet strength differences, the inductances are closely matched and therefore the overall presence and volume of the two pickups are actually uniquely well-balanced, providing two extremely distinct voicings without sacrificing on calibration.
