The redeveloped Alchemy Astral is a vintage output Strat set, staggered AlNiCo V magnets and 42AWG wire aiming to reproduce the best tones of the pre-CBS era Stratocaster pickups. The bridge is wound after early - mid 60s pickups, with a higher output and inductance to give more grit and bite to the low end while allowing the highs to remain present and clear, but not too harsh. The middle and neck pickups are slightly underwound in the style more typical of mid - late 50s Strat pickups, giving them a piano-like high end and making them extremely open and responsive. Beautiful harmonic overtones and soft, bright cleans make the Astral set perfect for achieving a vintage Stratocaster sound, with just enough push from the bridge to handle some dirt for great blues/rock overdrive growl, while the neck and middle have twinkling, crystalline cleans that thicken up beautifully when the tone is rolled back or some fuzz is introduced.

The quintessential early Strat tone.

As the Astral set is staggered, pickup orientation is a factor - please select right or left handed stagger from the drop down menu when ordering!

All our single coil middle position pickups are RW/RP for humbucking sounds in positions 2 and 4.
