The Alchemy Amethyst was collaboratively designed to deliver the most usable breadth of tones possible for a single humbucker set, while retaining its own distinctive character. The Amethyst are an all AlNiCo V set in the vintage-hot output range, intended to capture the unmistakable tone of a boosted PAF pickup with the construction and extended ability of a modern humbucker. The neck Amethyst has incredible accuracy, retaining a treble presence and crystalline quality which allows chords to really sing and make lead playing clear without any characteristic neck position 'muddiness', where the bridge has tons of punch and cut to hammer out raunchy classic rock riffs, choppy blues licks and face-melting solos alike.

The Amethyst set was also designed to have perfect switching, with no change in volume between each pickup. To achieve this, the Amethyst set is wound to allow the output of the bridge to remain higher than that of the neck while reversing the inductances to increase the presence of the neck pickup, thereby matching the volume output of the bridge.
